Adding a battery to the solar system you already have

You have panels and an inverter installed and want to add a battery? The first step is to find out whether your inverter accepts one. This page says how to check and what to gather, without asking you to open or touch any equipment.

What's included

  • A look at your case

Remotely, plus a site visit if it's needed.

  • A written quote

With the price, before any work starts.

  • Only with your go-ahead

It's your call: we only go ahead when you say yes.

Does your inverter accept a battery?

As a rule it depends on the model: some inverters are designed to work with a battery and others are not. The manual for your model and the manufacturer say whether a compatible battery exists. The model is on the inverter's label; photograph it without touching the equipment. See also the hybrid inverter page.

What the options are

  • A battery compatible with the inverter you already have, when the manufacturer provides one for that model.
  • Replacing the inverter with one that accepts a battery: see inverter replacement.
  • Another solution, depending on the system. We tell you in the assessment what is possible in your case.

What to gather

  • The brand and model of the inverter, from the label.
  • Photos of the inverter and the electrical board, without touching anything.
  • What you expect from the battery: use more of your production in the evening, have power during a cut, or both.
  • Whether you have monitoring and which app you use.

What may change in the installation

Adding a battery can change the installation and, depending on the case, rules and notifications may apply. In the assessment we tell you what applies to yours, and we only go ahead with your agreement.

When to ask for a quote

Ask for a quote once you know the inverter's brand and model, even if you don't know whether it accepts a battery: we tell you that. We reply within 48 h and the quote comes in writing, with the price stated before you go ahead. See the battery with backup page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose any battery I like?

Not necessarily: the battery has to be compatible with the inverter and the installation. Tell us the brand and model and we tell you what is possible.

Will a battery power my home in a cut?

It depends on the model, the battery and how the system was wired. Not every system with a battery works during a cut. We tell you what is possible in your case.

Will I save on my bill?

We don't promise savings figures. The result depends on your consumption, your tariff and your system; we talk about it with you.
