Communication fault or production fault
Growatt uses a communication module plugged into the inverter and the ShinePhone app, or the web portal, to show production. When the home wifi changes or the module loses its connection, the app goes blank, but the inverter may keep producing normally.
A simple test: look at the inverter itself during the day. If the display shows power and there is no fault light, the problem is probably the communication.
When there is no production
- Display off in full daylight: the panel or grid supply may be missing, or the inverter has failed.
- Fault light with a code on the display: note the code and the model.
- The inverter switches on and off through the day: it may be the grid, the settings or the unit.
If you smell burning or see smoke, switch off the installation breaker and don't touch the equipment.
Hybrid models and backup
Some Growatt models are hybrid and work with a battery. If yours went dark in a power cut, backup may depend on the model, the wiring and the settings; see backup that failed in a cut.

Frequently asked questions
The ShinePhone app shows nothing. Is the inverter broken?
Not necessarily. Look at the inverter display: if it shows production, most likely only the communication failed. If it's off during the day, ask for an assessment.
My Growatt is a hybrid. Does it work in a blackout?
It depends on the model, the battery and how the system was wired. Give the model in your request and we tell you what is possible in your case.
