Remotely, plus a site visit if it's needed.

  • A written quote

With the price, before any work starts.

It's your call: we only go ahead when you say yes.

When replacing makes sense

A typical inverter lasts 10 to 15 years, against 25 to 30 years or more for the panels, so it will need replacing during the life of the panels.1 It may be time to think about a replacement when:

  • The inverter is old and nearing the typical end of life.
  • Faults keep coming back, even after a repair.
  • The model has been discontinued and parts are no longer available.
  • You want to add a battery or backup and the current inverter doesn't allow it.

What a replacement involves

The new inverter has to be compatible with the panels you already have and, if there is one, the battery. In the assessment we check what is installed and propose suitable equipment. The swap includes connecting to the electrical installation and meeting the rules that apply; in the quote we explain what applies to your case. If you have a battery, we also check that the new inverter supports it, so that you don't lose what you already installed.

When you replace it, you can choose a hybrid inverter, ready for a battery. That leaves the system ready for a battery with backup, now or later.

Repair or replace: how we decide with you

We start by understanding what failed. If repairing the inverter is possible and reasonable, we say so. If replacing is better, we explain why and the quote states the price before you go ahead. The decision is yours, with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions

Is it better to repair or replace?

It depends on the age of the unit, the type of fault and what you want from the system in future. After the assessment we tell you what we recommend and why.

Is the new inverter compatible with my panels and batteries?

That's what we check in the assessment. Give us the brand and model of what you have and in the quote we tell you what is compatible.

Is there paperwork to handle when replacing the inverter?

Rules and notifications may apply to changing a solar installation, depending on the case. In the assessment we tell you what applies to yours.
